this is a test to see if Rachel has taught me how to link to something....
I love Yellow Fence Shirts.
Oh I cannot wait to go back in and see if this worked.
If it did - THANK YOU Rachel for your comment.
If not, know that I am a blogging idiot and I am OK with that - little by little, I am going to figure this out!

Enjoy today -

Making a difference...

I am not having the best morning... just a lot going on for me right now.... so I was sort of feeling bad for myself which I totally believes only brings about more sadness.... and then at work (I work in my dad's construction office) I checked my email and got the following message from a kind lady who took our class at Scrap Etc.... it made my day so much brighter to know she "gets it" now and that Danelle and I talking to all those people at least mattered to her. That somehow made my day much brighter.... Thanks to Dusty for taking time to send me this email EXACTLY when I needed it. I am so proud of her for what she is now creating for her family!!

I have already used my creative cafe book to create a 2008 journal and I am keeping up with the things our family is doing. I am loving it! In just a short time, I caught up Jan-March (which I have not scrapped in 12x12 format, by the way) and I am loving adding April items as they happen. I caught my son looking through it the other night - I love it when they take an interest! He was really tickled with being able to recount our activities and talk about how much fun we had and the best part of that day. I am writing down things spur of the moment that I would never remember 6 months from now when I finally get time for the 12x12 layout. You guys hit the nail on the head for me. I desperately want to track it all but I just cannot with the time I have (work full-time). This model has completely freed me! Now I do not feel the pressure of the piling up layouts I am behind on... In fact I don't even have to scrap them at all if I do not want to! This format is more portable - I can tuck my book, a pen, and some adhesive in a bag and I am ready to go! Sorry to bother you with all the details but just wanted you to know that you had a big impact for me!
Take care!
Dusty

Thanks for reading this!

I am so happy that more than two people read this! I am happy anytime anyone comes to this site. I hope down the road, once I figure this all out, I can inspire you to make SOMETHING THAT MATTERS rahter than nothing at all. I am working on a newsletter and getting in all the addresses from the amazing Scrap Etc event.... I hope it emails out mid may.

Anyway, I have had people ask me about the Letter Box workshop I did in my home last Friday.... it was amazing. People came to make a booklet on one of their kids. With the bigger picture concept that you spend just two hours a year for 21 years making a booklet for your child at every age.... it can start NOW - even if they are already 4 or 14. Just go from here forward. I would give A LOT to have even just one little booklet from any age from my Mom. You summarize some traits of that child right now at this age... and you write them a letter. That is it - nothing hard at all. Here are some photos of the one I did for Kaya. I am working on the one for Kalli because she turns offically 6 on Thursday! Thanks for taking time out of your day to look at this site. I appreciate it very much.

Make Something Monday

OK, I know only Shannon and Candy are reading this site... but I have to start somewhere:)

I read in my new Favorite Book "5" from compendium that "dreading Mondays is a ridiculous way to spend one-seventh of your life, but that's the weird habit that millions of people have fallen into." The book is based on looking at your next 5 years... so 260 Mondays. Do you want to dread them, or embrace them and make Mondays something special for you... I talked to my friend Shannon about this (one of the two of you reading this so far!) and she make last Monday matter. She has committed to making SOMETHING every Monday from now on. Even if she simply selects and orders some digital photos - it is her goal to Make Something (every) Monday. I love that! I am on board, too. If I had more blog readers, I would ask you to join us. :) We will get there.... that I have no doubt! :) So, for now, anyone who stumbles upon this little blog, Make Something on Monday. If you did just one little thing on Monday for the next 5 years, you would have 260 little things you made! Now that rocks. :)

An amazing evening...

I had my first Once Upon A Family (would insert a link if I knew how) celebration workshop at my home on Friday night. I have got to tell you, I was not looking forward to the home-party aspect of it, but it was wonderful. I planned on talking just a bit and doing the letter box workshop, but everyone wanted to know MORE about Once Upon A Family products because not one of them have ever heard about it. It was great because people wanted to know more about these amazing products THAT MATTER! Some people made their booklets and others wanted to do that part at home. I gave them packets that included the child's name on the cover as well as DYMO titles for every topic. It felt great to hand that something that could easily become a treasured family memory.

People loved the Lessons for Little Ones set that is on super customer sale right now for $49 for ALL 12 lessons plus this super cool box to store them all. My girls LOVED doing the March Lesson, so I was excited to pick up the full set for our family. They also liked how I turned the Family Tree poster into a Family Prayer and Wishes tree where my girls can add on leaves to represent our prayers and wishes.... I love that item used like that, too. Overall, the party was amazing, and I loved picking up some cool new items for my family with my hostess dollars. I have the unreal Leather Annual album coming, and I plan to make it a tradition to create a two-page spread as a family every year on new years day. I know that will be an amazing heirloom for our family. It felt great showing people simple ways to teach values, spend family time together, and simply capture memories.

Scrap Etc Rocked and a New Book I love

Hi. I do not think anyone even comes to this blog yet, so I am kind of writing to myself.... but, I love this book SO MUCH I want to talk about it anyway! :)

At the AMAZING Scrap Etc Event (thank you for everyone who wrote such kind things about our huge classes).... they had this book from Compendium (if I knew how to, I would link you to their site right there, but I have no clue how to do that). The book is called "5". It is all about making you think about where you want to be in 5 years. I loved it. It made my heart race so much I wrote on it in the airplane all the way home instead of sleeping (and I had very little sleep before catching a 3:30 AM taxi to fly home). I loved it so much, I might try to create a simple class based on it. Here are some photos of my book - I love it and I think it matters.... and I really just need things to matter right now.
